If Boris Johnson wins the Mayoral election, he will become one of the two or three most high-profile Conservatives in Britain – not to mention the world, with all eyes on London as 2012 approaches.
Yet Boris was the candidate of last resort for the Conservative party. They had approached Greg Dyke, Brian Paddick and who knows who else to try to find a big name who could be their face in the capital, but when they all declined the party reached the bottom of its list: Boris.
Boris is a chaotic man, renowned for never being in the right place at the right time, and usually saying the wrong thing if he finally does turn up. If you usually vote Conservative, think about how this man would reflect on the party, as his Mayoralty inevitably descended into chaos and gaffes.
And when you’ve thought about the years of humiliation he would inflict, why not visit the alternative candidates page for suggestions of who you could vote for instead? Just this once.
