When Andrew Gilligan’s lack of professionalism in a Radio 4 news item caused a crisis at the BBC and led to Greg Dyke’s resignation as Director General, Boris saved Gilligan’s career by employing him at the Spectator.

A few years later, Gilligan is using the Daily Mail Group’s Evening Standard newspaper to smear Boris’s leading rival in the election, but not investigating any of Boris’s shortcomings or his error-rich manifesto at all.
